November 19, 2024
The holiday season is fully upon us (can you believe we’ll be eating turkey next week?!) and there’s so much to be thankful for this year. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the day-to-day hustle and bustle, but it’s also important to take some time out of our busy lives to recognize all of the great things going on around us. Did you know that practicing gratitude as self-care is actually proven to benefit our overall wellness? Studies have shown that incorporating a gratitude practice can help reduce depression and anxiety, improve self esteem and more… super interesting and well worth taking a few minutes out of each day!
As cheesy as it sounds, this year (and every year) we’re extra grateful for the friends & family we get to celebrate the holidays with. It’s such a fun time for family bonding and creating new traditions.
Some Thanksgiving traditions we just can’t skip… turkey is one of those things. Whether you’re in Montana, Florida or somewhere inbetween… Thanksgiving without the turkey just feels wrong. (Have you ever tried frying a turkey?! Read about Scot’s favorite way to cook a Thanksgiving turkey here.)
Turkey aside… we’ve still got room to creatively mix things up with appetizers and sides.
We’re definitely trying out this puff pastry tart with brie, cranberries, apple and cinnamon spiced honey…Say less! And, as a fun take on sides we’ve got our eyes on sweet potato orzo salad & savory stuffed squash. For dessert, how about mixing it up and finishing on a healthy note with this apple crumble a la mode from Cymbiotika?
Another great tip… try to start the day on a healthy note too! Before pouring that pomegranate mimosa (just us?!) try sipping on some Kroma bone broth in the mid-morning or around lunch, depending on when you plan to eat Thanksgiving “dinner,” to get a gut-friendly jump start on the day, curb cravings and boost energy.
If you’re ready to ditch the mimosa, but want to celebrate with a festive drink anyway, you’re in luck! We caught up with the owners of Hold My Bar, Montana’s first mobile N/A bar service. They talk all about starting their business, and the N/A movement in our interview here. Plus, they gave us two of their favorite holiday drink recipes, made with N/A options you can find right at Haskill Creek!
Still curious? That’s another great reason to stop by Haskill Creek this Friday, November 22, for our holiday shopping event. Hold my Bar will be serving up delicious N/A cocktails, and we’ll have other complementary drinks options and charcuterie from our friends at Trovare.
Stop in to get an IV from BusyBee IV, talk about skincare & makeup with Julie Westadal, chat with Alpine Gold Tallow & Farm Fueled Nutrition, and Dr. Andrea Emde from Gislason Chiropractic, and of course.. Get an exclusive 20% off of everything at Haskill Creek from 4-8PM.
Speaking of events… we’ve got two awesome floral design workshops coming up with Forage & Floral. Whether you’re hosting Thanksgiving, or heading to someone else’s home, our Thanksgiving Centerpiece workshop this Thursday November 21, is one you won’t want to miss. Talk about a beautiful addition to your table, or a gorgeous hostess gift! Sign up here. Plus we’re making holiday wreaths on December 4th, a favorite tradition of ours! You can sign up for that workshop here.
