This includes a commitment to bettering the planet through the restoration of farmland in Costa Rica via the 5 Cycles Approach. This approach was coined by regenerative pioneer Charles Massy. This is a profound ecological approach to farming that enables, and even empowers landscapes to renew themselves. Rather than degrade and slowly drain them of nutrients as industrial farming does. This is the heart of Thrive's Regenerative operations. They harness the natural superpowers of plants grown on their farms in Costa Rica. These form the nutrient-dense base to their clean product formulations. A few all-star plants they incorporate into their products are; Juanilama, Coralillo, and Fierrillo. Native to Costa Rica, these plants have strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. [1] Direct from Mother Nature.
Now, a skincare regimen, featuring Thrive products.
1. Cleanse
Begin with their Face Wash in Regular & Sensitive. The Regular features the gentle aroma of a natural essential oil blend. This includes citrus notes of orange and Lippia Alba (aka Lemon Balm), smokey cedarwood, and a zest of peppermint. While The Sensitive formula is fragrance-free. Both feature the plant-based healing powers of Fierrillo, Coralillo, as well as Fridericia Chica extract. The latter has also demonstrated wound-healing properties. [2] Additionally, Argan oil replenishes the skin’s microbiome.
For a next-level clean, try their Thrive Energy Scrub. This gentle exfoliating scrub, uses plant-based biodegradable exfoliants, rather than plastic microbeads. Perfect to unclog pores or prevent ingrown hairs before shaving.
2. Moisturize
With the Thrive Face Balm, in both Regular and Sensitive. Both utilize the antioxidant powers of aloe vera and Lippia alba oil, as well as the soothing properties of macadamia seed and argan oil. The Regular version, once again, has essential oil notes like orange, cedarwood, and peppermint. While the Sensitive formula foregoes the addition of any essential oil scents.
3. Protect
For the face, use Thrive Daily Defense Sunscreen Balm. In SPF 30, this mineral sunscreen is formulated with non-nano Zinc Oxide. This lightweight formula comes packed with extra nutrients and environmental protection from Wakame Kelp, Tazman Pepper, and Arabica Coffee Oil. It’s reef safe and human safe too.
For the body, Thrive Bodyshield 50, recently won Best Reef-safe Sunscreen by NYT Wirecutter. They reported this mineral sunscreen to be the most coral-friendly option available in the U.S. Even with a whopping 23.5% of zinc oxide protection, this formula rubbed in the clearest of those they tested.
